Supplements... that is a mouthful! There are thousands of supplements out there. It can be quite mind boggling which one to buy.  We have discovered through intensive searching that almost ALL supplements out there do not have enough of what your horses really need and a bunch of ingredients your horse does not need that your paying for. If your hay is  good quality, you don't need the kitchen sink! Through looking at hundreds of hay analyses we have determined the ingredients most lacking  in supplements are zinc and copper.  ALL hays require zinc and copper supplementation, mostly in LARGE quantities.  What zinc and copper do in the body would require a book to explain. They are imperative to most systems and when deficient show up in the feet first. We have seen this over and over.

Clients who have hoof issues who do not increase these two minerals to acceptable amounts cannot seem to grow healthy feet on their horses. Clients who do give correct quantities have horses with  feet that grow out inferior hooves quickly and now have strong, beautiful feet. There are other ingredients that are required for healthy hooves, but you must start with zinc and copper. As we recommend, a hay analysis tells you how much you need to supplement of what.  We do not sell supplements because we care about your horse getting what it needs as opposed to  selling you something. There are many roads that lead to Rome. You just need to get there.

We always suggest Arizona Copper Complete. It has what your horse needs in the quantities that will make a difference , AND not contribute to more imbalance .  Please see our links for web site info .  Fresh ground flax is a must if horses are not on grass , however I like to see horses get flax even when on grass . Salt!  1 tablespoon 2 times a day.  Salt blocks were developed for the cattle industry . Cattle have rough tongues  and can lick the block getting enough . Horses have smooth tongues and cannot get enough . Also , plain white salt , not mineral salt or blocks as again you are contributing to mineral imbalance .
