Corrective Trimming

At Equine Wellness Services we believe that the horse can overcome most hoof issues as long as it is given what it needs.  This includes proper diet,  exercise and a barefoot trim that eliminates imbalance and rehabilitates the natural function of the hoof .

This is the same foot after 5 months of Equine Wellness Service trims, but the horse is doing most of the work!

This is a case of shoeing leading to under run, contracted heels.  The first set is the day shoes were pulled.  As heels run forward and contract  the internal structures in the rear of the foot atrophy and are "squeezed" up and out the back of the foot.   This results in  the extreme curved hairline and weak frogs/narrow heel bulbs

After 11 months of trims that gradually bring the heels back under the horse into a proper, active, weight-bearing role the hoof  develops better angles,  a robust frog /heel, and overall improved quality and balance.
