A Road Less Traveled
Equine Wellness Services is a teamed holistic approach to the health of the horse. We base our work on what we feel are current best care practices validated by experience and science.
Our hoof care uses a synthesis of several barefoot trim techniques. We have not created any new theory or method, but our study of different theories and methods has provided us with an effective tool set. We use these tools to serve the horse.
Diet services rely on a hay analysis with mineral balancing guidelines taught by Dr. Kellon. We do not sell supplements. Instead, we encourage owners to critically examine what they are feeding their horse and what their horse needs, using the NRC as a baseline.
Deworming protocols have changed dramatically in the last couple of years, with emphasis on fecal testing as a starting point rather than blanket/rotational use of increasingly ineffective dewormers. We provide simple, low cost testing to assist with the new guidelines.
